Additional Dictionary of Angels: Including the Fallen Angels Information

The result of sixteen years of research in Talmudic, gnostic, cabalistic, apocalyptic, patristic, and legendary texts, the classic reference work on angels is beautifully illustrated and its reissue coincides with the resurgence of belief in angels in America.

What Customers Say About Dictionary of Angels: Including the Fallen Angels:

But what is the real gem in this book is the Appendix. The entries are - by and large - helpful and informative, with a great deal of references and citations. Full of information about Archangels, the different choirs of angels and how they're ranked, etc, according to various traditions, angelic script, and all sorts of minutae of information make this an invaluable resource to anyone with an interest - scholarly, magical or Christian - in angels. I recieved this as a birthday present and was absolutely delighted by the wealth of information contained within. In dictionary format, this book makes it easy to find just about every angel ever, including loads you probably never knew existed.

This is not what I would term a 'fluffy' book but it is excellent for both serious scholars and those seeking angel help alike. Remember the parting of the Red Sea and the fate of the pursuing Egyptians.

Sometimes it can be a tough day at the office.Absolutely 10 out of 10 for both information and the wonderful way this is written. Well, God had set angels to watch over the Israelites and angels to watch over the Egyptians because he is good and just.but then he smote the angels watching over the Egyptians for failing to protect them.

I bought this book a few years ago now and it is probably the best out there. Remember the flight of the Israelites from Egypt, Moses at their head.

Rest in peace Gustav. If you need any information on what angels are out there, mentioned in whatever historical or religious texts.

The text at the beginning before we get into the dictionary is just fabulous and should be read by all.my favourite part is where he points out that the poor old angels are never going to win the approval of their boss, even when doing what he has set them to do.

However, since he is dealing with subject matter that is largely unknown, he apparently has chosen to include all references he can find, even when they are obviously imaginative.Nevertheless, this is a definite must-have for all angelology enthusiasts, and I highly recommend it. This is an exhaustive work. The author is to be given credit for all of his research and compilation. My only complaints would be a lack of categorization (i.e., holy angels, fallen angels, demons, nephilim, watchers, etc)., as all entries are listed alphabetically; unless you know the name of the angel you are looking for (and many angels seem to have multiple names), you are forced to spend a lot of time looking. Also, the author includes many dubious sources, including known fictional works (e.g., Milton's Paradise Lost) in his descriptions.

The new one has a very pretty cover, and my old one has dirty page edges, but I'm not convinced I need a new one unless significant information has changed in the last 40 years. I almost bought this book, but comparing the "Look Inside" feature with the 1967 edition I already own, I didn't find any difference.

But I guess if you're into witchcraft or angel worship, then you would get some use out of it. I suppose it depends on what you'd consider truthful. One of my "friends" stole my copy, so I guess it was never meant to be. It's got some pretty names, and some interesting ideas, but it's one of those "every religion is right, why can't we all just get along" type of books, and I just didn't have any real use in it. But I didn't really get anything out of it. I don't believe angels can do much for you.
